Influenced by the movement of waves, tales of sirens, and washed up treasures on the sea shore the Emmy dress was custom designed and made in Los Angeles out of layers of light indigo silk taffeta and organza with accents of freshwater pearls and strands of silver chain. Following the queen anne neckline and lace-up open back, the bodice of the dress lays tight to the bust while the skirt's fullness mocks that of a vintage petticoat. Accenting the shoulders, under bust, and waist of the garment, hand-beaded strands of freshwater pearls are draped onto the body alongside the help of embroidery thread, eye pins, and silver chains.

Emmy Dress

Through multiple rounds of draping, sketches, and digital collaging, the Emmy dress developed from initial imagery collected from the client’s personal collection photos relating to the movement of textiles in water and corsetry. After narrowing down the specific details needed in the garment, multiple experimentations with textiles of varying shades of blue, weight, and opacity were done to determine which combinations the client preferred. Lastly, the development of the pearl body jewelry were explored through draping with fresh water pearls and ivory beads of different shapes and weights.
