Tactile Compression
FW ‘21
How can ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, be addressed through fashion? Adaptive garments in the Tactile Compression collection focus in on the ways in which health wearables can be more visually intriguing without sacrificing function. Through the use of a balanced framework of three principles known as function, aesthetic, and expression garments can be made productively and more purposeful. Moreover, the use of primary research from people living with autism or sensory processing difficulties is vital to creating garments that have their specific focuses and needs in mind. Lastly, incorporating methods of compression and tactile therapy commonly seen in pre-existing inventions for the ASD community allow for these garments to be mentally and physically beneficial to the user.
